As educators, we are buried under "new" and "revolutionary" technology trainings that are supposed to improve our pedagogy. So we take all of these resources, put them in a file folder and organize them in a sea of other essential digital tools.
What we aren't told are the rules that surround those resources. I would like to consider myself a proactive teacher and still had no idea what an "Open Educational Resource" was. Because we consistently share information with our students, we skip the thought that some resources are "closed". We cannot manipulate or tailor them to meet the needs of our individual students.
Consequently, we are committing a form of plagiarism and if you know one thing about teachers, we are NOT ok with plagiarism! While it's challenging to sift through all of the rules of being a law abiding digital citizen, it is necessary to protect the intellectual property of the creator.
I'm glad I made this infographic because I will be referring to it quite often until it becomes second nature!
